My cartoon life...

Mom, remember that time a few months ago when I was trying to help by cleaning and I temporarily ruined your tv screen but then eventually fixed it? Well today I had another one of those moments...

I saw this idea on Pinterest of how to get yellow stains out of white clothes using a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and dawn.  I tried it a few weeks ago on Adam's short sleeve shirts and it actually helped a lot. So I decided to do it again, but was more ambitious this time.  I got all of Adam's and my dad's white shirts (8 total) and scrubbed away on them for a little more than an hour last night. Then I let them set all night and while I was at work.  When I got home I just threw them in the washer so I could get them hung up in the sun as soon as possible.  I got busy with some other things when I walked by and noticed that the washer had paused. I tried to restart it thinking maybe my dad had messed with the power while he was working on the sprinklers. It wouldn't do anything so I finally opened the door and barely got a look inside when bubbles came spilling out.

It looked somewhere in between this:

And this:

Don't worry, Mom. I got it all sorted out eventually. :)

Update on Life

Here I am again, haven't blogged in what feels like forever.  Finally uploaded pictures from my camera which apparently go back to Christmas...So here's our life in pictures.

One of the first snows, Adam went over to Gramma's to help Niko build a snowman.  The snow was that crappy dry, not-sticky-at-all kind so he had to improvise and used a shovel to make a pile and carved a tiered snowman out of it.  The face was made of M&Ms-true to my family's style.  He is so good with Shannda's kids and I'm so anxious to be able to see him interact with our own kids and I'm grateful for the wonderful father figure he is.
Please note my crazy husband who is building a snowman in shorts.  At least he wore tennis shoes instead of flip flops I guess...

Next, I helped my sister and mother make signs for Nathan's homecoming.  I might have mostly taken over, using Shannda's children's appendages as stamps, but I think they turned out great and I'm pretty proud of them.  Although, I will say that the ideas were not mine. Shannda and my mom did those all by themselves. :)

The next happening I found on my camera was the Run for Heaven's Sake.  This run was a fundraiser for the Ramsey Keller Foundation, a local foundation that helps families who experience infant loss cover the burial expenses.  Even though we did not personally use the foundation because my grandma graciously covered the costs and agreed to have McKinley buried over Grandpa, we felt this would be a good thing for us to do who help others who did not have that help.  My mom bought the supplies and I tie dyed shirts for the whole crew and then we embroidered "Team McKinley" on them in pink.  They turned out great!  Besides the family here, Shannda's friends Sam and Lyndi and their immediate families came and so did Adam's and my sister and brother-in-law, Heidi and Spencer.

Unfortunately, it was raining so I didn't have my camera out during the race and we never got a group picture there, but here is what I do have.

Also, unfortunately, it rained the entire time Heidi and Spencer were here. We were planning to go camping that weekend, but didn't get to.  And we couldn't really think of anything else we wanted to do that wasn't outdoors.  So Heidi and I made our sweet husbands do a spa night with us.  We did our own while they dropped my dad's phone charger to him at work in Laurel (he was on midnights...and we're living with him for free...for the past year. It was the least we could do). Then when they came back we put face masks on them and made them soak their feet and use the homemade sugar scrub we made. Then we watched a redbox movie and exchanged foot massages.  It turned out to be a decent date night, if I do say so myself.

Jeni and the kids came up to drop Anika off for some camps and she just happened to be here for her birthday.  Naturally, we got out the bouncy balls and had some races, directed by none other than Adam.  Anika won the first race.  The younger ones had a little trouble with technique.  But it was all in good fun.

Even the birthday girl joined in on the fun!
Grandma dominating.

Now, I'm just working at the Refinery again, earning some much needed money and Adam is working at the school gym and observing all day trying to get his internship credits taken care of.  He has scout camp and camping with our friend Cupcake and then he's headed off to Valdez for the rest of the summer to work and spend time at home. I don't want to spend that much time away from him, but I know he'll enjoy being in Valdez and I might come and visit him.  We'll see.

Gadiation

Well...I DID IT! I finished my undergraduate degree in Mathematics.  I really can't say that I will miss homework, but it's going to be weird to not go to school anymore. For quite a while at least.

I'm so grateful for my wonderful family and their support of my education.  I'm grateful for Adam getting me constant snacks and repeatedly warming up my rice bag for me while I did hours and hours of homework.  I'm grateful for my mother for listening to all of my complaining and always taking my side, even when I had procrastinated which was most of the problem.  I am grateful for my dad's short term memory which got me through many a GE class. And I'm sure that there's a lot more!

I'm so glad that I was able to celebrate this weekend surrounded by family as that is the thing that matters the most to me! I'm so glad Adam's mom and sister were able to join us, and for how often we've lucked out and gotten to see his family since we've been married even though they live in Alaska!  Speaking of family, I'm grateful for my beautiful daughter and even though she wasn't in any of the pictures like I was planning on her being, I know she is proud of me:)

I have so many things that I am planning to do with the extra time I think I'm going to have now that I don't have homework, but for now the only for sure thing is that I get to work.  Time to start making the bank account go the other way! And Adam has a ton of internship hours to get done, so the majority of the income is going to be on my shoulders for the time being.  Adam will start applying for Physical Therapy schools this summer and he finishes school this December, so hopefully the next step will be PT school, somewhere...anywhere really! :)

Adam's mom and sister were kind enough to take pictures of my happy farewell day to college so here's some pictures!

Adam and Niko were twins:)

Throwing my cap. My class failed and no one threw their caps.

How I felt when I had homework and Adam didn't...which was pretty much all the time!

Dunkin! He's been through a lot since 7th grade and was my homework buddy this year:)

My backpack. I got the same backpack as my best friend after graduating high school. This thing survived four years of carrying math books. Impressive if I do say so myself.

And pictures weren't fun until I got on my trampoline...

Spring Break

Last week for spring break, Adam and I went to Disney World for five days by ourselves! It called it our late honeymoon since we decided to cram getting married, have two receptions, Christmas, and New Years all into two weeks in 2010. Anyway, it was a lot of fun!

At times I got a little sad because we were at Disney World surrounded by children, with no child. But most of the time it was fun and tiring. Apparently I don't know how to relax on vacation, because despite the fact that we had five day tickets, we had hit all of the main things by the end of the second day...including Downtown Disney. I had been there three times before, but for team things and I was only used to having a few hours at a park per day. But we visited all the parks twice and we saw a lot of shows which I had never seen so it was fun. Or favorite was beauty and the beast! We went to it twice:)  We also went to one of the Disney mini golf courses!

The train conducted kept saying, "Please stay sitted, please stay sitted," and we thought it was funny and said that at the end of every ride for the rest of the trip.

About to go on one of our favorite rides the Tower of Terror:)

The FIRST time I've ever seen a lion walking and not sleeping!
Another of our favorites in the background, Expedition Everest!

Animal Kingdom, one of my favorite parks...well they're all my favorite!
Adam posing with Mater. It was the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival and I'm a  little bit of a plant nerd so I really liked all of the topiaries and flowers! Lucky Adam got to pose with most of them:)

EPCOT!
Pre-Star Tours Ride

It had to be done.

Dessert at Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie
The legit mini golf course we played at. I won by one stroke:) (Actually two when I realized the cap for each hole was six!)

We also were able to go "sailing" with our friend Cupcake's parents! We didn't really get to sail because there was hardly any wind, but it was still a relaxing and enjoyable day. We went to a tiny island in the gulf and found lots of seashells and sand dollars.

On the little island
In the cabin
"on a boat"
Unfortunately, the week ended and now we're back to the grind of school. BUT there's only 7 more weeks left and then I GRADUATE!!! (Assuming I pass all my classes...) I'm pretty excited. And Adam probably is too. Not just because that means I can work and be his suga mama while he goes to school, but because he's been hearing me say "I hate school" for the last 6.5 semesters...endless math homework does that to you, ok?
